Rusted metal is porous so care must be taken to ensure that the metal is completely clean and dry. Blooming rust should be knocked down and a solvent used to help remove contaminants like grease or oils and the solvent will help draw out moisture.
Coating and sealing moisture in the pores of metal can cause the failure of any coating.
Everbrite Protective Coating provides the following benefits to rusted metal with every application:
- Eliminate staining of surrounding areas from unsightly runoff and stains. Rusty drips on other substrates can ruin the look of a building.
- Eliminate the transfer of rust to people (hands & clothing).
- Extend the life of the steel by protecting from further corrosion.
- Give the surface a more finished, purposeful look.
- Excellent adhesion on naturally or artificially rusted surfaces.

Everbrite will seal rusted metal to prevent further corrosion and will prevent rust stains. On most metals, two coats of Everbrite Clear Protective Coating are recommended. On rusted metal, raw steel or rusted metal, 3 to 4 coats are recommended because the metal is very porous. Enough coats of Everbrite should be applied so the top of the rust is covered. The deeper the rust, the more coating is needed to cover. Everbrite will seal the metal and will look great for years and can be maintained indefinitely.The metal MUST be completely dry before applying the coating.

How do I know if Everbrite is the right coating for my project?
Everbrite is recommended for restoring architectural metal, painted or powdercoated metal, anodized aluminum. Everbrite will seal rusted metal to stop drips and stains and will stop tarnish on copper roofs, gutters, monuments and more.
You can first test your painted metal roof to see if it can be restored. Clean an area with soap and water with a sponge or scrub pad. Observe the aluminum while it is clean and still wet. If the color and luster return, then your roof can be restored to look great again.
A small Everbrite Trial Kit will restore about 12-25 Square Feet of painted metal. Twelve square feet with two coats (recommended).
Larger Kits Available. Include cleaners, pads, Applicators and Everbrite to restore and protect your painted, powdercoated or anodized metal.
